Armed suspect with explosive killed by police in Port St. Lucie home

Port St. Lucie police responded to a domestic violence call that escalated into an officer-involved shooting, resulting in the death of an armed suspect.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) stated that they had responded to a house in the 600 block of Northwest Marion Avenue at around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday regarding an in-progress domestic violence incident.

PSLPD reported that detectives entered the home and encountered a woman with children as well as a man who they identified as the suspect.

According to officials, the suspect was armed with an explosive device, which led to an officer-involved shooting.

Authorities stated that the suspect was declared dead on the scene.

It was mentioned that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation.
