Orlando police on Wednesday shared new footage showing the arrest of a man accused of shooting a teen in November.
CR, 36, faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the Nov. 13 incident, according to court records. R has pleaded not guilty to each charge, records show.
The videos, shared to social media by Orlando police, include surveillance footage recorded that night in the 4500 block of North Pine Hills Road.
According to an affidavit for R’s arrest warrant, he and several others were near a Family Dollar around 8:30 p.m. when his son allegedly started a verbal argument with the 17-year-old victim. The victim had reportedly given R’s son several tattoos which had yet to be paid for, what the affidavit states was the subject of the argument.
Not wanting to get into a fight, the teen allegedly began to walk back toward the store, police said. The teen told investigators that R then shot once into the air, stated “Oh so now y’all don’t want to play,” and shot the teen in his left leg, according to the affidavit.
Several people called 911 as R and his son ran from the scene, the affidavit states. Responding officers located two shell casings and spoke with a witness who identified herself as the victim’s cousin, according to the document.
Seen later in the footage provided by Orlando police, officers arrested R on Nov. 27 at Lynx Central Station in downtown Orlando.
R was arraigned on Dec. 18 and is being held on no bond amount. His trial is scheduled to begin on March 31, records show.
