Arrest made in Sarasota shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured

 A man was arrested in connection with a Sarasota shooting that occurred Sunday and is still being investigated, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

At 3:15 a.m., SPD responded to the 1100 block of North Washington Boulevard, where preliminary information indicates that a fight broke out between several groups of people.

SPD said the suspect, GVBE, 29, pulled out a gun and fired shots.

A woman was killed at the scene. Another man was injured and taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Witnesses heard the shots and held the suspect until officers arrived.

There is no known relationship between the suspect and the victims.

The Sarasota Police Department arrested BE and said he faces charges of homicide and aggravated battery with a firearm.
