Police in Melbourne are looking for the person who set several fires in the construction area for an Aldi grocery store.

The fires were spotted Sunday morning at the former Winn-Dixie store on East Eau Gallie Boulevard, which is being turned into an Aldi.

Police say a construction worker saw one of the fires and called 911. Police arrived at around 10:30 a.m., but the suspect was able to run away.

The Melbourne Fire Department put out the fires, which caused damage estimated to cost over $100,000.

No details about the suspect have been released.

Police say they are also searching for a robbery suspect who attacked an employee at the nearby Texas Roadhouse, just after officers left the area. It’s not known if the two cases are related.

If you know anything about either incident, you are asked to call the Criminal Investigations Unit at Melbourne PD at 321-608-6474. You can also call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477), where you can submit information anonymously.
