Authorities: Storms spark three fires in Hernando County

First responders were busy Tuesday across Hernando County as storms sparked multiple fires.

According to Hernando County Fire Rescue, crews responded to three separate house fires.

There were no injuries.

Two fires were reported in Spring Hill, one after lightning struck a home in the 8000 block of Pagoda Drive. Crews extinguished the fire with limited damage to the home.

At a home on Alderwood Drive, a power surge from the storm is suspected to have caused a battery system to fail and cause a small fire which was able to be quickly extinguished by firefighters. This structure sustained moderate fire damage.

There were no injuries to homeowners or firefighters. Images are from the Alderwood Street incident.

Meanwhile in Brooksville, a downed power line landed on the roof of a mobile home in the 16000 block of Honeybee Lane.

Damage was limited and the fire was put out by firefighters.

Coastal flood warnings also were being monitored early Wednesday.
