Baby dies following single-vehicle crash in Miramar

A 4-month-old baby has died after being involved in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend in Miramar, police confirmed Monday.

According to police, the crash happened at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of Southwest 173rd Avenue.

Police said the baby’s mother was driving and the woman’s other child was also in the vehicle.

Officers said the baby was airlifted to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, where he or she later died.

The mother was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood with minor injuries, according to investigators. The second child was not injured.

Authorities said MPD’s Traffic Homicide Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

No other details about the crash or the family involved have been released.
