Bicyclist dead after being hit by truck in Immokalee Sunday night

One person is dead after a truck hit a bicyclist in Immokalee Sunday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a crash on Lake Trafford Road at around 7:30 p.m.

FHP said a Ford truck was traveling east on the road, approaching North 18th Street. A 45-year-old bicyclist was traveling north on 18th Street, approaching Lake Trafford Road.

The bicyclist attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of Lake Trafford Road and entered the path of the truck. The truck then crashed into the bicyclist, FHP said.

The bicyclist sustained critical injuries from the crash and was transported to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead, according to FHP.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
