Bicyclist dead, woman critically injured in crash in Jacksonville’s Regency area.

AJacksonville man died Friday morning after he was hit while attempting to a cross a road in Jacksonville’s Regency area, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

At 12:04 a.m., a sedan driven by a 29-year-old Jacksonville man, was traveling southbound on State Road 113, or Southside Connector Boulevard in the outside lane, the FHP crash report states. A 34-year-old Jacksonville man was in the lane on SR-113, too, as he was riding a bicycle, attempting to cross the road in an east to west direction, the report states.

FHP says the front of the sedan struck the 34-year-old and came to final rest on the right shoulder while the bicyclist came to final rest within the lane.

A female passenger in the sedan whose identity is “currently unknown,” FHP says, suffered critical injuries in the crash; the driver suffered minor injuries. The passenger was taken to HCA Memorial Hospital, according to FHP.
