Bicyclist dies after being hit by car in Fort Lauderdale

 Police in Broward County are investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist.

It happened Tuesday at approximately 7:15 p.m. along the 5400 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

According to police, officers responded after receiving reports of a car striking someone on a bicycle.

Crews from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue also arrived after the crash.

Authorities said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene after the crash, police said.

Authorities have yet to say if speed or alcohol played a role, or if the driver will face any charges.
