Bicyclist dies in crash with SUV in Collier County

A 63-year-old man riding a bicycle was killed in a crash with an SUV Friday afternoon in Collier County.

At around 1:50 p.m., state troopers responded to 7430 Immokalee Road for the crash near the Logan Boulevard intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the FHP report, a Chevy Tahoe made a right turn and collided with the bicyclist. FHP said the vehicle and bicyclist’s pre-crash movement remains under investigation.

The Naples man suffered critical injuries and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center. Troopers said he was later pronounced dead.

Eastbound Immokalee Road was shut down from Logan Boulevard to Heritage Greens following the crash.
