Bicyclist dies nearly two weeks after Lake Worth hit-and-run

A bicyclist died nearly two weeks after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on South Military Trail, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said 44-year-old G was crossing South Military Trail from west to east near Cambridge Street in Lake Worth at about 9 p.m. on July 4.

According to the crash report, G was crossing in the middle of the block and was not in a crosswalk when he entered the path of a northbound Toyota. The front of the vehicle struck the right side of the bicycle, throwing G onto the roadway.

The driver continued north on South Military Trail without stopping or providing any information, investigators said.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue took G to St. Mary’s Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries. He died from those injuries at about 10:07 a.m. on July 18.
