Bicyclist hit by car near St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport

A bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a car Monday in Pinellas County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 21-year-old woman from Miami Gardens was driving west on Ulmerton Road east of the Gateway Expressway when she changed lanes and hit a 51-year-old woman who was riding a bike eastbound in the westbound bicycle lane, troopers said.

The bicyclist was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, troopers said. No one in the vehicle was injured.

No other details were immediately available.
