Bicyclist killed after being struck by semi-truck in Lake Worth Beach

Deputies say a 47-year-old bicyclist died Monday night in Lake Worth Beach after being hit by a semi-truck in Lake Worth Beach.

A traffic report with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) says that a bicyclist, on a bike missing a functional front lamp, was traveling westbound on 10th Avenue in Lake Worth Beach just before 10 p.m. on Monday.

As the bicyclist, 47-year-old Carlos Vivar of Palm Springs, turned into a plaza on the 2400 block, a passing semi-truck failed to see him, per deputies.

The tractor-trailer struck the right side of the bicycle, ejecting him, according to the traffic report.

Deputies say Vivar was pronounced dead at the scene.
