Bicyclist killed following SUV crash on US-41 in North Naples

One person is dead after an SUV crash involving a bicyclist occurred on US-41 in North Naples.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 8:38 p.m. on Thursday on Wiggins Pass Road approaching US-41.

The 61-year-old man Naples bicyclist was traveling west on the left lane of Wiggins Pass Road, approaching the intersection of US-41.

An SUV traveling north on the center lane of US-41 was approaching the green light at the intersection of both roads.

The bicyclist then entered the intersection in front of the SUV, causing the two vehicles to collide.

The bicyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Troopers state that the crash is still under investigation.
