Bicyclist killed in crash at Columbia County intersection: Florida Highway Patrol

A bicyclist was hit and killed in a crash near an intersection in Columbia County on Wednesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Officials said at 6:48 p.m., a 28-year-old driver was traveling north on U.S. 441 approaching the intersection of NE Gum Swamp Road. A 58-year-old bicyclist was on the east side of the intersection and travelled west across U.S. 441 at or near the intersection.

The front of the car struck the bicyclist in the roadway and he died at the scene, FHP said.
