A bicyclist was killed Monday night following a crash along US-301 near Dade City, according to authorities.
The incident occurred February 16, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Investigators say a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 73-year-old Dade City man was traveling northbound on US-301. South of Ruth Avenue, the vehicle overtook and collided with an unidentified adult male who was riding a bicycle in the travel lanes. Officials report the bicycle did not have lights, and the reason the bicyclist was in the roadway remains under investigation.
The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
