A bicyclist was killed Saturday night when she was hit by a vehicle on the John Ringling Causeway, the Sarasota Police Department said.
Police say the crash happened May 30 at about 11:30 p.m., in the westbound lanes of the smaller bridges between the John Ringling Causeway Bridge and Plymouth Harbor.
A vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old man from Sarasota, was driving in the westbound lanes of causeway, when the vehicle collied with the bicyclist, a 35-year-old Sarasota woman, police said on social media.
The bicyclist died at the scene. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation, police said.
