A bicyclist from Fernandina Beach, 70, is in the hospital with serious injuries after she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street in Nassau County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
FHP said the crash took place at the intersection of First Coast Highway and Burney Road around 10 a.m.
The agency said the pickup truck, which was traveling west, and the cyclist, who was traveling south, arrived at their respective stop signs at the intersection.
As the cyclist attempted to go through the crosswalk, the truck began entering traffic and hit the cyclist, FHP said.
FHP adds that the cyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
