Bicyclist struck, killed by pickup truck in Lake County

A 30-year-old man riding a bicycle was struck and killed Friday night on State Road 50 in Lake County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. near Anderson Street.

According to a crash report, the bicyclist was heading north on Anderson Street and attempted a left turn onto SR-50 when he went into the path of an oncoming Chevy Silverado.

The front of the pickup hit the bicycle, causing the man to be thrown off, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver, a 67-year-old man from Texas, was uninjured.

The bicyclist’s name and age have not been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
