Biker dies in wreck near On Top of the World retirement community in Ocala

A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash in Marion County on Thursday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say an 87-year-old woman was driving a car south on Southwest 80 Avenue near the On Top of the World retirement community.

Troopers say the car turned left on 80th Street in front of a motorcycle headed north on 80th Avenue, violating the motorcycle’s right-of-way.

The biker, a 37-year-old man from Citrus Springs, was thrown onto the shoulder of the road. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

The woman was treated for minor injuries. Troopers are investigating the crash.
