A Bonifay man is in critical condition after he crashed his vehicle while fleeing from authorities on Thursday morning.
According to a news release, shortly after midnight, the Washington County deputies were in pursuit of the 24-year-old man who was traveling west on Coralvine Drive.
The man drove onto the south embankment before he swerved to the right. As a result, the vehicle rotated clockwise as it crossed Coralvine Drive.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that the vehicle collided with the embankment on the south shoulder and overturned.
The vehicle continued in a northwesterly direction before colliding with a tree and came to a rest upside down, facing north.
FHP said that the deputies were able to get the man out of the vehicle and began life-saving measures.
The man has been flown to an area hospital with critical injuries.
