Boy wounded in Pompano Beach shooting

 Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a Saturday morning shooting that left a boy hurt.

It happened at around 10:45 a.m. near the 600 block of Northwest 16th Street in Pompano Beach.

Deputies said the child was shot in the leg and medics took him to the hospital.

Authorities did not immediately specify the victim’s age.

“Detectives with BSO’s Crime Scene and Violent Crimes Units were notified to (investigate) the circumstances surrounding this shooting,” agency spokesperson Gerdy St. Louis said in an email late Saturday morning. “The investigation continues.”
