Boynton Beach Police Department arrests man in shooting near church

The Boynton Beach Police Department announced Wednesday it arrested 50-year-old R L A on a first-degree murder charge.

The incident occurred Nov. 15 near the intersection of Northeast 12th Avenue and Second Street.

At the time of the shooting, officers encountered A, who matched a witness’ description of the shooter. According to the police department, A was carrying a small amount of crack cocaine in his pocket, which led to his arrest.

Officers then served a search warrant at A’s home, where they found two firearms and ammunition. The police department said it recovered a hat and bicycle that matched the description of the shooter.

The victim in the shooting was identified as 43-year-old.
