Broward high school students accused of attacking teacher

Two Dillard High School students are accused of attacking a teacher on campus, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Local 10 News on Friday.

Fort Lauderdale police said 19-year-olds JM and RM confronted the teacher around 2 p.m. Thursday and threatened him before launching the attack.

Police said the students struck the teacher, knocking him to the ground, where they continued to punch him as he tried to protect himself. They said school security eventually broke up the attack.

The victim suffered facial swelling, bruising, and reported back pain following the incident, according to the report.

Police did not disclose a motive for the attack.

Jail records show both suspects are facing one count of battery on an educational employee.

As of Friday, they remain at the Broward Main Jail, with M facing a $15,000 bond and M being held without bond.
