Bus driver fatally shoots 2 passengers in South Florida, police say

A bus driver is accused of shooting and killing two passengers Sunday morning, according to the Miami Gardens Police Department.

Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the area of NW 7th Avenue and 183rd Street.

The Public Information Officer Diana Delgado said in a news conference Sunday that the driver of a Miami-Dade Transit bus pulled out a firearm and shot the two individuals.

The victims, who have only been identified as men, were airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. They both died shortly after from their injuries.

As of this report, the bus driver has been detained.

The motive behind the driver firing the weapon remains under investigation.

Police have not released additional details.
