A Cape Coral man was arrested in connection to a vehicle crashing into cars, mailboxes, and a garage.
On Monday, the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a report of a reckless driver in the area of SW 49th Street and Chiquita Boulevard.
Witnesses say a white Chevrolet truck was driving erratically and struck multiple objects, including mailboxes and a house, before driving away. They said the truck also had a flat rear tire and was being driven on the rim.
Shortly after, CCPD got a notification from ONSTAR about a crash involving a white truck that matched witnesses’ description. According to the notification, the crash happened at 1429 SW 48th Terrace.
When officers arrived, they found the truck parked crooked in parking spot number six. The vehicle had heavy front-end damage, a flat driver’s side rear tire, and the engine was warm to the touch. The ONSTAR system was also showing a crash notification on the truck’s Heads-Up Display.
Officers discovered the vehicle was registered to P B, 53, who also lived in unit number six at that location. When officers knocked, B exited from the neighboring unit, saying, “It’s me, I f***** up!” He repeated he “f***** up” multiple times and admitted he was the person officers were looking for.
While speaking with B, officers noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. His eyes appeared glassy and bloodshot, and he was unsteady on his feet.
During a DUI investigation, B provided a breath sample. His blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.
B was taken to Lee County Jail on charges of driving under the influence, DUI with property damage, and being involved in multiple hit-and-runs.
