Car crashes, catches fire after shooting in Miami Gardens; no injuries reported

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) – A vehicle was set ablaze after coming under gunfire overnight in Miami Gardens.

Officials responded to a call at around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the area of 199th Street and 37th Avenue in reference to a black sedan that caught fire.

First responders arrived and located the vehicle littered with several bullet holes.

According to Fire Rescue, the vehicle’s tire was potentially struck by gunfire, possibly causing the fire.

“Affirmative, a car was shot up. A car caught fire; according to witnesses, a tire is what started the fire,” said a firefighter over Broadcastify.

The driver managed to escape the vehicle once it crashed. No one was injured.

7Skyforce hovered over the scene, where the investigation halted traffic in the area for hours.

The vehicle has since been towed away, and roadways have reopened.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently unclear.

This is an ongoing investigation.
