Witnesses said a car crashed through the second floor of a parking garage and landed on the ground below Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale.

The crash happened in the 3100 block of 48th Street.

Video from Chopper6 showed yellow tape cordoning off the area of the parking garage where the car apparently crashed out of. A purple-colored sedan, with shattered windows and a front bumper, apparently landed on the ground below, barely missing a parked white vehicle.

There were no official reports on any injuries.

A witness told NBC6 that a man was driving a new electric car when he mistook the gas pedal for the brakes and drove through the fence.

The airbags were deployed, and the driver appeared to be only slightly hurt, the witness said. The white vehicle was only slightly damaged.

Further information was not available.

Understanding Florida’s No-Fault Laws

Florida is one of the few states that follows a no-fault insurance system, which means your own PIP insurance typically covers the first portion of your medical bills. However, $10,000 rarely covers the costs of a serious injury. A car accident lawyer near me at Ovadia Law Group can help you determine if your case meets the “permanent injury” threshold required to sue the at-fault driver for additional damages. Many victims leave money on the table because they don’t realize they can seek compensation for pain and suffering beyond their PIP limits. Our legal team meticulously reviews your medical records to build a case that reflects the true severity of your condition. We simplify the legal jargon so you understand your rights at every step of the process. For expert guidance on your insurance claim, call us 1-800-674-9396 for a free consultation.
