On Sunday morning, a silver Mercedes suddenly swerved off the road and through the median on the Hathaway Bridge.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the car was traveling West over the Hathaway, swerved off the road to the right, and collided with the westbound concrete barrier wall.
Then the car crossed westbound lanes, collided with the center metal median barrier, went through the median, crossed the eastbound lanes of the bridge, and continued until it collided with a tree and stopped, according to FHP.
We’re told the driver had serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Law enforcement said so far, alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation.
