A fire destroyed a car at an apartment complex in Fort Myers.

It happened at the V2 Apartments near Colonial Boulevard and Winkler Avenue at around 8 p.m. Saturday.

According to Fort Myers Fire Battalion Chief Bryan Alexander, the driver was behind the wheel when he noticed flames coming from inside the glove compartment.

“He noticed some flames coming down from the glove compartment box, so he pulled over real quick, and his car caught on fire,” Alexander said.

The driver was able to get out and call 911.

Firefighters say no one was seriously hurt, but the owner told Gulf Coast News he burned his fingers.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
