Car slams into tractor trailer in Fort Lauderdale, killing driver.

A driver was killed after crashing into a tractor trailer in Fort Lauderdale.

It happened early Thursday evening along the 2300 block of Northwest 19th Street.

According to police, the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told Local 10 News the truck was attempting to back in when the vehicle slammed into the trailer portion. Another witness told a similar story, saying she was walking with her children when she saw the car barrel into the back of the trailer.

Family members who arrived at the scene identified the driver as 18-year-old Tra’nayiah Shaw.

Traffic homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances that led up to the crash.

The westbound lanes of Northwest 19th Street were closed from 21st Avenue to 24th Avenue following the crash while one eastbound lane remained open, but all lanes have since reopened.
