A Miami woman has been arrested and faces a charge of attempted murder in connection with a violent kidnapping and assault that ended with the shooting of a victim on the Julia Tuttle Causeway last month, police confirmed Wednesday. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sept. 10 when 33-year-old Mercedes Latifah Green and a group of individuals, whose names were redacted in an arrest report, arrived at a Miami Gardens home in a gray Ford F-150, according to authorities.

Ponce Inlet terminated one of its paramedics after an investigation found he confessed to coworkers that his negligence led to the death of some patients. A 25-year-old woman was killed after crashing her car into an active construction zone early Tuesday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened just after midnight in the westbound lanes of I-4 near SR-528. They say the woman was driving on I-4 westbound from Sand Lake Road through an active construction zone when she hit an unoccupied, parked car in the construction zone. Troopers say the woman’s car then rotated and she was partially ejected from her car.
