Charlotte County crews battle vehicle fire at Circle K gas station on Duncan Rd

On Friday, crews with Charlotte County Fire & EMS battled a vehicle fire that sparked at a Circle K gas station.

Firefighters say that the vehicle sparked at the Circle K on Duncan Road. The store was evacuated and the intersection was temporarily closed to traffic.

rews say they were able to extinguish the fire quickly before it could spread to the nearby gas pumps or surrounding structures. They add that one patient at the scene refused transport to the hospital.

Afterward, crews say the cause of the fire was an accidental mechanical failure within the vehicle.

Mutual aid was provided by the Punta Gorda Fire Department.
