Monday, at 2:57 p.m., Charlotte County Fire and EMS responded to a reported structure fire on the corner of Airport Road and Cooper Street.
When crews arrived at the scene, the outside of a barn was on fire just 20 feet away from a nearby home.
The fire crew swiftly contained and extinguished the fire, preventing any further spread. The City of Punta Gorda Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
The cause of the structure fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The Responding Units: Engine 7, Rescue 5, Rescue 6, Battalion 1, County Fire Marshal, State Fire Marshal, and PGFD.
