Child and adult dead after car crashes into lake in Immokalee

MMOKALEE, Fla. — Two people are dead after a car crashed into a lake in Immokalee Monday night.

The single-car crash happened on 732 Lauren Lane and Crestview Drive at around 9:50 p.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the car was in a parking lot before the driver accelerated, hitting a space barrier and then entering the lake.

A 39-year-old female driver and two passengers were removed from the sedan.

The 27-year-old man and a 2-year-old boy were transported to a local hospital but later pronounced dead.

The crash is currently under investigation.
