A child was hospitalized in Pensacola as a Trauma Alert patient following a rollover golf cart crash Saturday morning in Midway.
The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hickory Shores Blvd. and Keystone Drive. The Midway Fire District responded for a reported overturned golf cart.
“The 911 caller advised that four juveniles were on board when the operator lost control,” Midway Fire says in a release.
Out of the four children, one male juvenile was transported by EMS to the Sacred Heart ER in Navarre for evaluation.
“After being examined by the physician, it was determined that the boy’s injuries were more serious than initially believed. Due to HIPAA laws, the exact nature of the injuries cannot be disclosed,” Midway Fire says. “Through the diligence and sound judgment of our crew, who made the decision to have the boy evaluated at the ER rather than sending him home, fortunately, the situation was identified in time. That decision proved to be lifesaving. The patient was subsequently Trauma Alerted and transferred to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for emergency care.”
The three other juveniles were released to their parents at the scene.
