Child on scooter injured after being hit by vehicle in Port Charlotte

A child riding a scooter was injured after being hit by a vehicle on Easy Street in Port Charlotte.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:05 p.m.

According to FHP, units received reports of a crash involving a juvenile and a vehicle. FHP said the child was injured and transported to a hospital.

Neighbors told Gulf Coast News a 12-year-old girl was hit by a minivan.

The crash remains under investigation.
