Child riding electric scooter seriously hurt after colliding with school bus in Clay County

A child who was riding an electric scooter collided with a school bus Friday morning in Clay County, authorities confirmed.

According to FHP, the child was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

It happened at 4870 Creek Bluff Lane just before 8 a.m.

FHP said the bus was traveling east on Pine Ridge Parkway, approaching the intersection at Creek Bluff Lane. The child was traveling east on the westbound sidewalk of Pine Ridge Parkway, approaching the same intersection at Creek Bluff Lane. As the school bus attempted a left turn onto Creek Bluff Lane, the child crossed Creek Bluff Lane, causing the child to collide with the left front of the school bus, FHP said.

Seven students on the bus were not hurt.
