Clearwater man killed in Marion County hit-and-run crash

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A hit-and-run crash early Sunday on Interstate 75 in Marion County killed a 41-year-old Clearwater man and slowed traffic south of Ocala, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. on northbound I-75 in the area of mile marker 342, where FHP as of 9 a.m. reported the roadway was clear again after several hours of lane closures.

According to an FHP crash report, the Clearwater man was “within the right lane” and was struck by an unknown vehicle that was traveling north.

The vehicle then left the scene, troopers said.
