Cocoa woman killed after stumbling into path of oncoming car, troopers say

A 55-year-old Cocoa woman was fatally struck after she “stumbled” into the path of a car on Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, troopers said that the incident happened near Grissom Parkway and Canaveral Groves Boulevard around 5:50 p.m.

At the time, the woman was walking along the southbound shoulder of Grissom Parkway, though she reportedly “stumbled” into the roadway — and into the direct path of an oncoming vehicle, the release shows.

While the driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting the woman, the car’s undercarriage ultimately struck her, investigators reported.

As a result, the woman died at the scene, troopers said.

No additional information has been provided at this time.
