Columbia County deputies say two dead in shooting investigation, shelter-in-place order lifted

Columbia County deputies have lifted a shelter-in-place order just east of Lake City.

Two people were found dead after deputies responded to a shooting Saturday evening.

Around 5 p.m., they told residents living along Southwest County Road 242 to stay inside as they investigated the shooting.

Deputies found one person dead in a nearby home, and were looking for a 19-year-old who they said had a gun.

That man was found dead in the woods near the crime scene just a few hours later.

They say there is no longer any danger to the community.
