A two-vehicle crash has sent multiple people to the hospital and closed roads in Sarasota County, the sheriff’s office announced Saturday.
The crash occurred around 9:21 p.m. near the intersection of Tamiami Trail South at Colonia Lane East in Nokomis. Southbound lanes of Tamiami Trail South will be shut down for an “extended period,” the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office said deputies are assisting the Florida Highway Patrol in the investigation.
“Multiple occupants” of the vehicles are being evaluated at local hospitals following the crash.
