Crash on I-75 ends with gravel spilled from overturned truck

UPDATE: As of 11 a.m., crews are working to clear gravel from the road. Please use caution while driving.

One lane is blocked on I-75 northbound this morning from a major multi-vehicle crash involving a dump truck on its side.

The crash is between the Venice Connector and Clark Rd. At least one vehicle is in the woods near the dump truck. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the semi-truck swerved from the middle lane of NB I-75 into the path of another vehicle and struck it before swerving back into the path of another vehicle.

The truck ended up on its side and spilled its gravel haul into the roadway.

Crews are now on scene working on clearing the crash, plus cleaning debris from the interstate.

Traffic is delayed over an hour with a 12-mile backup.
