A late-night fire briefly disrupted operations at the Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa in Jensen Beach, but quick action by firefighters prevented injuries and further damage.
According to Martin County Fire Rescue, just after midnight on Monday, crews responded to a structure fire at the resort in the 3700 block of NE Ocean Boulevard. The fire broke out in an unoccupied guest room in the north tower and is believed to have been caused by an electrical short in a room refrigerator.
Ladder 14 was first on scene and quickly attacked the fire, using its ladder to direct water onto the flames and knock them down. Engine 16 supplied water support while additional crews conducted searches and ensured scene safety.
Firefighters completed primary and secondary searches of the fourth and fifth floors, safely evacuating all occupants. No injuries were reported. While the fire caused significant damage, it was largely contained to the resort’s north tower.
Officials credited the rapid, coordinated response for resolving the incident safely and efficiently.
