Cruise passenger beat girlfriend’s 10-year-old daughter with suitcase, cops say

A Georgia man is facing four felonies in South Florida after police said he attacked his girlfriend’s children while on a cruise, beating one with a suitcase, kicking another in the mouth and yanking a braid out of the head of another.

Miami-Dade police arrested Damion Fryer, 32, of Hampton, Georgia, after Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas returned to PortMiami on Friday.

According to an arrest report, the incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 16.

Police said Fryer, amid an altercation with his girlfriend, first pushed her 10-year-old daughter, then, as she tried to break up the fight, punched her in the torso.

The report states he then “grabbed a hardshell suitcase” and hit the girl over the face with it. He then grabbed a picture frame from the wall and tried hitting her with it, but the victim’s mother was able to grab it, police said.

However, authorities said Fryer wasn’t done. They said he kicked his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son in the mouth and “threw him across the room” and then yanked a braid out of the head of his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter as she exited the bathroom.

All three children suffered minor injuries, the report states.

Police arrested Fryer on one count of aggravated battery and three counts of child abuse with no great bodily harm.

As of Monday afternoon, he was being held in the Metro West Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.

Jail records show that if released, he’ll be required to be on “total lockdown” house arrest with GPS monitoring.
