The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a bicyclist was struck and killed in Port Charlotte Monday morning.

Troopers responded to the scene on Gasparilla Road, near Keystone Boulevard, just after 6 a.m.

FHP said a bicyclist is dead after colliding with a car. The crash remains under investigation.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, all lanes of traffic on Gasparilla Rd. are being diverted onto Winborough Drive. It is unclear how long traffic will be affected.
