The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a deadly crash that occurred on State Route 31 and Bermont Road.
According to deputies, the crash was reported at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
Early crash reports show a black car was found heavily damaged in a ditch near the road.
The Florida Highway Patrol had assisted deputies with diverting traffic while investigators worked the scene.
It remains unclear how many people were injured in the deadly crash; however, FHP has reported at least one death as a result of the collision.
Tow trucks arrived on the scene to remove the damaged vehicle, and Bermont Road reopened at 6:30 a.m.
