Deadly crash shuts down I-75 southbound in Wildwood at SR-44

A deadly crash has shut down all of the southbound lanes on I-75 in Sumter County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 11:30 p.m. Monday night after the interchange to Florida’s Turnpike.

As of 7:30 Tuesday morning, all of the lanes are still shut down.

FHP is detouring drivers off I-75 southbound at SR-44.

From there, drivers can travel from SR-44 to US-301, then back to I-75, or get onto Florida’s Turnpike.

Troopers have confirmed the crash is deadly.

Prior to the deadly crash, there was a crash in the same area an hour before at 10:30 p.m.

Troopers are working to clear that crash as well.
