Delivery driver hit man outside Aventura townhome, threw packages and bolted, police say

A driver delivering packages to an Aventura townhome complex in December struck a man with his car and took off soon after, according to police. Authorities arrested him Tuesday.

According to Aventura police, Trevon Honnel Linton, 21, of Pembroke Pines, was driving on behalf of “crowdsourced delivery platform” Roadie when he hit the man on Dec. 2 at the Promenade at Aventura Apartments, located at 19706 E. Country Club Drive.

The man, police said, was grabbing his daughter after she chased a soccer ball into the street when Linton hit him in the legs and ankles, injuries which would send him to the hospital.

Police said two witnesses were able to stop Linton by standing in front of his vehicle.

An arrest report states that Linton told them “I just need a safe place to turn around.”

He then threw two packages out of his window and sped off after the witnesses said they were calling police, it states.

After authorities identified him through Roadie, Linton turned himself in to the Aventura Police Department on Tuesday, where he declined to speak with officers, police said.

He was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury and was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.
