Delray man accused of recording intimate moments, harassing ex-girlfriend: DBPD

A man is behind bars after he was accused of secretly recording his intimate moments with his ex-girlfriend, according to the Delray Beach Police Department.

According to the arrest report, the victim began a relationship with the accused, David Bateman, in February after she met him at a gym in Boca Raton. The arrest affidavit said things were great at first and then she began to see red flags.

The affidavit against Bateman says he would become “angry and verbally abusive toward her. ” The report continues there was an incident where her dog bit his dog and he began to call her vulgar names.

In May, Bateman, 41, had become angry and sent her angry text messages, the affidavit stated. That’s when she decided to block his number and his Instagram account.

The report alleges the victim began to receive threatening messages from another Instagram account which she believed to be Bateman. The report says she blocked that account as well.

The victim then began to receive messages from Bateman’s email. The affidavit says on May 14 at around 4:04 p.m. Bateman had sent the victim a photo through email of her performing oral sex on him.

The victim was mortified, the affidavit reads, and she was upset because she was unaware that Bateman had been recording their intimate moments.

The report alleges that Bateman sent a group text to the victim and other people of him engaging in sex. The victim told police she never received the messages because he had blocked her, but that didn’t stop him from sending screenshots of the messages to her.

On May 17, investigators from the DBPD spoke with the other person who was in the group chat who confirmed she received the messages from Bateman.

Bateman was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail on June 16. He faces counts of video voyeurism and sexually harassing another person.
